Richard Green Ecology offer a comprehensive range of ecological surveys for planning and development, as well as habitat management and conservation purposes.
We cover all plant and animal groups. Surveys are undertaken in accordance with standard ecological survey methodologies.
Habitat surveys include:
- Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey
- National Vegetation Classification (NVC)
- Botanical – including higher and lower plants
- Rivers (River Corridor Survey and River Habitat Survey)
- Hedgerow survey and assessment
- Building and tree surveys for bats and other protected species
Protected species surveys include:
- Bats
- Badger
- Hazel dormouse
- Otter and water vole
- Breeding and wintering birds, including barn owl and cirl bunting
- Reptiles and amphibians, including great crested newt
- Invertebrates, including white-clawed crayfish
- Invasive plants, e.g., Japanese knotweed
We also provide advice when protected species may be an issue, including:
- Legal compliance and licensing
- Mitigation design, including species translocation and site management
- Programming of construction work
We hold Confined Space Entry and Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue qualifications, allowing us to enter underground sites and structures and climb trees to survey for bats.
We also hold CSCS cards for entry onto construction sites.
