Richard Green has become one of the first ecological consultants in England to become registered to use the HS2 Bat Mitigation Licences WML-CL39 and WML-CL40.
WML-CL39 permits activities resulting in the disturbance and/or capture of certain species of bats and/or damage or destruction of a small number of roosts within buildings where the overall cumulative impact is low to moderate.
WML-CL40 permits activities resulting in the disturbance and/or capture of certain species of bats and/or damage or destruction of a small number of roosts in trees where the overall cumulative impact is low to moderate.
As a ‘Registered Ecological Consultant’ for the above licences, Richard Green is permitted to use them for works on sites after successfully registering them with Natural England.
These licences may only be used to cover works which are directly related to the construction of HS2, Phase 1 (London to West Midlands). These may be early/enabling works or main construction works (civils). The licences may also be used to cover works involving the diversion of utilities to enable either of the above sets of works, but only where these works are directly required for the construction of the route, not for any other utility work.
Sites can be registered following bat survey/s in accordance with the standards within the HS2 Field Surveys and Methods Standards. We can register sites where other consultants have undertaken survey and we can undertake the surveys ourselves.
These licences reduce the costs and delays for contractors and reduce the burden on Natural England by allowing a more proportionate approach for low conservation status roosts of certain species.
We can therefore offer a more competitive package for bat surveys and licensing where survey findings fall under the criteria for this licence. Please Contact Us for more information.
